Welcome to the "FACING THE PALACE: BUILDING III" website

Welcome to the website that gives you the chance to experience a virtual tour of the Fishbourne Palace - Building III of Area A. Please use the main menu above to access the tour, information about the palace and links to other virtual tours available online. In addition, please use the submenu on the left to access infromation for each section. The virtual tour was developed using one of the best 3d software packages around called 3ds max, and it was rendered into a VRML (Virtual Reality Markup Language) file that allows you to experience the tour from your web browser.

You are required to have a plug-in installed in your computer so that the VRML content can be viewed. There are various free plug-ins available online. The "Cortona ® VRML Client" plug-in by Parallel Graphics was used throughout the development of the project. It is recommended that you install the same plug-in for this virtual tour. To find out if your system has a plug-in installed click on "Virtual Tour" on the main menu above. If you can view the VRML content provided you can start launching the virtual tour of the palace. Otherwise, you are provided with a link that brings you to the Parallel Graphics website where you can download the"Cortona ® VRML Client" plug-in manually. Instructions of how to use the VRML player can be found in the submenu.
